New Website!

Yes, that's right, my 'website' is all shiny and new. Any website designer is probably looking over it with a critical eye, but since I am but a poor artiste, this will have to do for now.

If there ARE any parts that are hard to navigate or read...please let me know. Just leave a comment here, or go to the shiny new 'contact me' and...well, contact me!

NOW!

Let me give you a wee tour....

Unfortunately, this site is ALL ABOUT ME. I say 'unfortunately' because it seems really self centered and, frankly, doesn't really solve life's big questions like world injustices and inequalities. So, first let's get the shameless promotion out of the way:

First things first, I have a big new shiny HOMEPAGE!

To the left, you can enjoy some links to companies I've work with, and below that, some links to reviews on projects I've done!

If that's not enough, head off to 'resume' to see my theatrical life on a page, 'project photos' to see some photos from some of these projects, 'modeling' to see professional photography shots, and 'music' to hear me sing and to hear my voiceover demo reels! Whooo!

Except, er, they're still being edited ... so music and voice stuff is still 'under construction.'

HOWEVER!

There's MOAR....

Truth is, I find that the arts have the tendency to become superficial and judgment-based environments. I would like to AVOID this as much as possible, and whilst I fully recognize the potential superficial level of many aspects of my career (modeling portfolio, commercial demo reel), I am trying to move toward a more meaningful and social justice-based life.

Okay, OKAY...so I know the cliche of "art through social change", so colour me hippie and paint me a hypocrite. I feel like this life chose me, not I chose it.

Even though, of course, I did choose.

This year, the Canada World Youth Facebook page asked me, " What is your new years resolution to create positive lasting change in your community? Quelle est votre résolution 2012 pour créer un changement positif dans votre communauté?"

And I went, "Well....." I don't really have a community, I move around so much. Sad, but true. I ALSO don't make New Years resolutions, but I do make 'goals' day to day and month to month and year to year....so... "what do I have to offer?"

Drummm rolll..........introducing...VOCAL MOVEMENT!

In a nutshell : I give you a by donation voice lesson. I have already done one exchange to Benin, in West Africa with Canada World Youth / Jeunesse Canada Monde which you can read about in "Travel-blogue."
Our theme was "environnement" and not only did I become fluent in French, but I learned way too much about responsible consumerism and world inequalities to not do anything. I HAVE to. I can't not. It's not even a question.

So, with Vocal Movement, what do you get? Well, I will aid you in releasing your natural voice through speech or singing. I recommend about 20 dollar donation per 45 minute lesson, but of course, it's up to you. That's what 'by donation' means! This donation will go toward a current NGO (Non Government Organization) that is doing an international project I am currently supporting. The idea is that this helps both the global community (by going toward an international program) and the local community by offering access to music and art to low income families.

Hopefully, if Vocal Movement can get a following in a few of the cities I normally travel to (Saskatoon and Edmonton primarily, occasionally Montreal) I can start offering group musical theatre classes on a by-donation offer.

These lessons can take place either at my place (if available) or yours, or even on the internet if you have Skype. That's not recommended, but it would be an introduction to music lessons at the very least.

So..that is that. Needless to say, this offer will eventually fill up because I can't offer 40 hours a week of 'by donation' lessons. But for now, it's wide open. If you're doing lessons via the interwebz, I should have an online donation device up and running soon!

What else?

"Travelblogue"..right now it is just the Canada World Youth experience, but I am hoping to get links to local producers in the cities I've lived in, and get all political and aware-ness-y on you. So that part will also be expanded soon, hopefully.

Too many projects much?

Okay kitty kats, I'm off. Hopefully I didn't bore you to death.

Oh, and by the way...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Make 2012 a good one. Live every day, live every moment!
